We consider the covariant gauge field theory of fractons, which describe a new type quasiparticles exhibiting novel and nontrivial properties. In particular, we focus on theoretical peculiarities characterize this theory, starting from fact that, if accept paradigm that quantum theories are defined by their symmetries, fractons unavoidably come together with linearized gravity. The standard Faddeev-Popov procedure to fix leads scalar condition, has two important drawbacks: it is frozen in Landau gravity cannot be obtained as limit. paper adopt tensorially alternative fixing, avoids both problems. allows show physical features, like counting degrees freedom, do not depend particular choice, expected.
